Rays of Silver

Today is my birthday, so I wanted to take out time to write something that means a lot to me. (Sorry for the interruption in SURVIVED THE SHOAH)

She was born on a rainy day. She had come out chubby, innocent, and marked the beginning and genesis of an absolutely new life!

Her mother's reward, her father's joy. Little wonder had they given her a name with a meaning; God has added to my joy.

Life had gone perfect for her. She grew up with comfort and the love of a beautifully knit family.

She had hopes.

As early as primary school, she loved to write. Complicated words were not her style. She read the many Blytons and Ladybirds, but she wanted to do something simpler, but deeper. Perhaps that was why she couldn't help kissing her paper with strokes of the pen. It came naturally, without compulsion.

She had a career plan all laid up in her heart. She often wondered if it would ever be possible not to lose her passion for prose. And so, she'd gotten into University, and the plan for career had taken over.

Life had always worked out fine for her. Sometimes, a little too fine. And it made her have fears. Fears she could tell no one. Was it normal to have a life this uninterrupted? Then the fear of the unknown begun to creep in.

The great encounter finally struck. Being the good girl next door didn't cut it. God knew it was time to pull her closer for a better relationship with him. Then and only then did she now understand that it was totally possible, and a kingdom right, to live in such grace.

Nobody said the road would be easy. Sometimes, you have things planned out, but the story shakes...just like her signature twists in her proses. She had only just completed her 400 level examinations, when the tragedy in the fantasy happened. She was served with her own suspense. Her daddy died.

She lost it. What just happened? That wasn't the life she had planned out. Daddy was supposed to be there at her graduation, law school, and everything else. The tragicomedy was that she didn't agree with the situation. She had this silly hope, that it was possible he could still come home...perhaps it was a wrong person that had been buried. Her tears, many as they were, perhaps didn't touch the merciful God's heart, to do what he did for Lazarus.

She began to get skeptical about a lot. Was the whole beautiful future even worth it? Perhaps her friends didn't understand. They thought she was so strong and had it all going for her. But they never even knew her emotional struggles...that she had become strongly weakened. Every conversation about people who talked about their dads, every Father's day with a blank dp, made her always wish she could rewind time.

The still small voice of God however, opened her eyes... The inner ones ( the physical ones were rocked by glasses.) She began to see the more than fifty shades of grace that she overlooked. Even in fatherlessness, she achieved things higher than she had imagined. She had a pillar for a mother who did the job of both parents.

Even though things didn't seem the way she wanted or planned, one thing was obvious; her latter is greater than her past. The best is yet to come. She can see the rays of sunshine.

And this day, she sees rays of silver, without her purple glasses, calling her to have strong hopes for a beautiful future.

Happy birthday to me.

My best is yet to come.

I appreciate everyone who visits this blog! You rock!

Above all, I bow my knees before God in absolute appreciation for every single second of new oxygen i breathe! It's been you all the way. My life has been perfect, despite hurdles...my life will be perfect. My life is perfect. This is my reality. I will go places...farther than I can ever imagine!

  28. Happy birthday Fisayo .... many may be the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them from them all. Personally, I would like to think that being a Christian should shield us from all negative occurrences in life, though that is not true. Like an elderly friend said, knowing Christ gives us the strength to overcome no matter what and knowing that God can cause ALL things (both the good and the bad) to work together for our good.

I love your writings.... I may not comment but I read often.

BTW: One of my students at Afe Babalola saw me reading your blog someday and said you were her senior in Sec school or so.
